Accounts Assistant

We are recruiting for an Accounts Assistant to join an existing team. The role is for an experienced individual who enjoys a range of accounting duties including daily bookkeeping such as purchase and sales ledger, credit control, VAT returns, payroll and calculating commission, month and year end management accounts, providing accurate management information to Directors. You will also be liaising with the Group accounting team, as well as liaising with banks and having involvement with the company insurance administration.

Duties include:

  • Recording of purchase and sales invoices
  • Posting of receipts and payments, daily online banking, credit control
  • Preparation of management accounts
  • Reconciliation of ledgers and bank statement reconciliation, cash flow monitoring
  • Creating new sales and purchase contracts using accounting software
  • Calculating of expenses and commissions
  • Completing monthly VAT returns
  • Payroll and pension processing
  • Administration of company insurance and similar ad hoc duties
  • Assisting in the annual review/audit of the business and management reporting

We are looking for an experienced, all-round accounts professional or bookkeeper, ideally with a degree or equivalent in Accounting. The ideal candidate will be highly numerate and have experience of working in multi-currency, although this is not essential. You will have excellent attention to detail, with strong communication skills and be able to work as a team and on your own initiative. Full training will be given on payroll and commission calculations.

    We are offering an excellent opportunity for a Bookkeeper seeking a challenging yet rewarding environment. This is an exciting new role that you can make your own.

    The successful candidate will be responsible for the day-to-day finances of the company.

    Your role will include:

    • Maintaining the purchase ledger and sales ledger
    • The ability to extract the income from the property software
    • Bank reconciliations
    • Posting journals (such as payroll)
    • Preparing and reconciling quarterly VAT returns
    • Raising invoices for the intercompany transactions
    • Dealing with completion statements and finance documents
    • Maintain an orderly accounting filing system
    • Liaising with external Accountants regarding year end and management accounts

    Requirements:
